Notice of Ways and Means Motion to Amend the Customs Tariff Relating to Milk Protein Substances from the GATT Article XXVIII negotiations which was tabled in the House of Commons on June 12, 2008
This is to serve as notice that it is expedient to amend the Customs Tariff as follows:
1.
Chapter 4 in the List of the Tariff Provisions set out in the schedule amended by adding the following after Supplementary Note 2:"3. Milk protein substances with a milk protein content of less than 85% by weight, calculated on the dry matter, are classified in tariff item No. 0404.90.10 or 0404.90.20. Milk protein substances with a milk protein content of 85% or more by weight, calculated on the dry matter, are classified in Chapter 35 (subheading 3504.00)."

Tariff item No. 0404.90.10 in the List of Tariff Provisions set out in the schedule to the Act is amended by replacing, in the column "Most-Favoured Nation Tariff / Final Rate", the reference to "6.5% (B)" with a reference to "3% (F)".3.
Chapter 35 in the List of Tariff Provisions set out in the schedule to the Act is amended by adding the following after Note 2:"Supplementary Note.
- Milk protein substances with a milk protein content of 85% or more by weight, calculated on the dry matter, are classified in tariff item No. 3504.00.11 or 3504.00.12. Milk protein substances with a milk protein content of less than 85% by weight, calculated on the dry matter, are classified in Chapter 4 (subheading 0404.90)."

Tariff item No. 3504.00.00 in the List of Tariff Provisions set out in the schedule to the Act is repealed.5.
The List of Tariff Provisions set out in the schedule to the Act is amended by adding, in numerical order, the following tariff provisions.3504.00, 3504.00.11, 3504.00.12, 3504.00.90

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) would like to inform you of the following changes to the 2008 Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff, as contained in the T2008-4 Amendment Package.
- In the February 26 Budget of 2008, the Minister of Finance announced an adjustment to the excise duty imposed under the Excise Act, 2001 for manufactured tobacco other effective July 1, 2008. The new excise duty rate will be $2.8925 per 50 gram package or fraction thereof for stamped manufactured tobacco. New classification numbers have been added to distinguish between packaged (Unit of Measure – NMB) and not packaged (Unit of Measure – KGM) tobacco.
- A Correction has been made to 24.03 and 2403.91 to correct text (French version only)

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) would like to inform you of the following changes to the 2008 Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff, as contained in the T2008-3 Amendment Package.
- Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance, pursuant to section 82 of the Customs Tariff, hereby makes the annexed Order Amending the Schedule to the Customs Tariff, 2008-1. P.C. 2008-928, SOR/2008-150. (Effective on May 15, 2008).
- Pursuant to Supplementary Note 1 to Section XI of the Customs Tariff-Schedule and P.C. 1997-2003 - Regulations Respecting the Customs Duty Payable on Woollen Fabrics Originating in Commonwealth Countries (Effective on July 1, 2008 and ending on June 30, 2009).
- Correction has been made to 8607.19.21.00 to replace missing text,(French version only)
- A correction has been made to 9927.00.00 to read “transcribing”, (English version only)

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) would like to inform you of the following changes to the 2008 Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff, as contained in the T2008-2 Amendment Package.
As a result of the Notice of a Ways and Means Motion to Amend the Customs Tariff relating to Bill C-50 this tariff notice is to serve as notice that Section 21 and Subsection 92(3) of the Customs Tariff Act were amended effective February 27, 2008.
A Correction has been made to Tariff Items 5106.10.90, 5510.11.90 and 5510.30.90 where the Costa Rica Tariff (CRT) Rate should have read Free, effective January 1, 2008.
A Correction has been made to Chapter Note 59 note 5, subparagraph (h), to read (Section XIV or XV), (English version only)
A Correction has been made to Tariff Item 8607.19.21 to replace missing text (French version only).
Tariff Item No. 9931.00.00 that was due to expire on March 31, 2008, has been extended indefinitely.
Amendments to various statistical suffices (9th and 10th digits) in Chapter 22.
