Starting January 5, 2010, members of the FAST program will no longer be permitted to use their old FAST membership cards in any commercial lane to enter Canada or the United States. Members will be required to use only their new FAST membership cards.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection have been issuing new FAST membership cards for current FAST members since March 16, 2009. The new FAST cards have enhanced security features that allow Canadian citizens to comply with the necessary document requirements under the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. All FAST members are required to activate their new cards within 30 days of receiving them by going to https://goes-app.cbp.dhs.gov/. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) also requests that members destroy their old cards as they will no longer be valid.
If members have not received their new cards, they should contact their enrollment centre to either pick up their new card, or to apply to have a new card issued.
Members should also ensure that their personal mailing information is up to date so that their new membership card can be mailed to them. Members can do this by going online to the Global Online Enrollment System.
