American fugitive removed from Canada

Winnipeg, Manitoba, April 29, 2010 — The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) today announced that Troy Robert Greenbank, a 31-year-old Missouri resident, has been removed from Canada and transferred to the custody of U.S. authorities.

On September 30, 2008, Greenbank fled to Canada before he was indicted on two charges related to sexual offences involving a minor. The CBSA received information from U.S. authorities that Greenbank may be in Canada. With the assistance of the Winnipeg Police Service he was subsequently arrested on an immigration warrant and remained in CBSA custody pending his removal.

“I would like to commend the CBSA officers involved in the removal of this individual from our country,” said the Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety. “This government will not tolerate the harbouring of fugitives from justice. We are committed to ensuring that the safety and security of Canadians are not compromised.”

The CBSA works closely with its domestic and international law enforcement partners to ensure that inadmissible persons are apprehended and removed as soon as possible.
